Generate a resume tailored to a specific job and assign it to a WizBot

Turn a single job description into a tailored, ATS-friendly resume, then wire it to the WizBot that pursues that kind of role.

A resume aligned to the job beats a generic one with both recruiters and the automated systems that screen applications first. In this guide you'll take a real job description, generate a tailored resume from it, choose the right template, export it, and assign it to the WizBot that applies to that kind of role — so every automated application carries your strongest, most relevant version. It's a repeatable routine: do it once per role family and your whole auto-apply pipeline gets sharper.

What you'll need

A complete job description for a role you're targeting (copy the full posting, not just the title), a base resume or profile in WizJob, and the WizBot you want this resume to power. Budget about fifteen minutes.

Generate and assign it

  1. Start a tailored resume

In the Resume Builder, choose 'Generate from a job description'. This mode aligns your resume to the specific language and priorities of one posting rather than producing a general-purpose CV.

  2. Paste the full job description

Drop in the entire posting — responsibilities, requirements, and the 'nice to haves'. The more complete the description, the better the AI can surface the experience and keywords that role actually cares about.

  3. Let the AI draft it

WizJob produces a resume that foregrounds your most relevant experience and mirrors the posting's language, so it reads as a strong, specific match rather than a form letter.

  4. Review every claim for truth

AI tailors emphasis and phrasing, not facts. Read the draft closely and make sure every line reflects your genuine experience. Adjust wording where the emphasis has drifted from what you actually did.

  5. Choose a fitting template

Switch between Modern, Minimal, and Creative to match the field — all three are ATS-friendly, so this is purely about tone. Your content re-flows automatically, so trying a couple costs nothing.

  6. Save and export

Save the tailored resume. If you'll also apply by hand anywhere, export a PDF for portals and people, or DOCX where an editable Word file is requested.

  7. Assign it to the right WizBot

Open the WizBot that targets this role family, find the attached-resume field in its targeting settings, and select your new tailored resume. From now on every application that bot submits uses this version.

Keep it honest

Tailoring changes how your experience is framed, never the underlying facts. Always confirm a generated resume represents your real experience before it goes out — with a person or with an ATS.

Pro tip: A/B test two resumes

Want to know which resume performs better for a role? Run two WizBots with identical targeting but different resumes, then compare their response rates in the Tracker. Keep the winner and retire the other.

Troubleshooting

  • The draft feels generic — you probably pasted only part of the posting. Re-generate with the complete job description, including requirements and responsibilities.
  • The AI overstated something — edit it down. Emphasis should never cross into claims you can't back up in an interview.
  • The layout looks wrong for your field — switch templates; content is preserved and simply re-flows into the new design.
  • The bot is still using the old resume — reopen the bot, confirm the new resume is selected in its settings, and save again.

Next steps

  • Choosing a template: Modern, Minimal, Creative — pick the design that fits your industry.
  • Assigning a resume to a bot — the focused reference for connecting resumes and bots.
  • Build a high-precision WizBot that only applies to great-fit roles — pair a tailored resume with tight targeting.
  • Diagnose and fix a low response rate using your analytics — confirm the tailored resume is lifting your numbers.
