Lock down your account: enable 2FA and manage security
Harden your WizJob account end to end — two-factor authentication, secure sign-in, connected accounts, and backup codes.
Your WizJob account holds sensitive material — your resume, your entire job-search history, and your connected job boards. Security is built into the platform, but there are steps only you can take to harden it. This guide walks you through the full lockdown: enabling two-factor authentication, saving backup codes, understanding secure sign-in, and reviewing your connected accounts. It's for anyone who wants their account properly protected, and it takes about ten minutes once through.
What you'll need
An authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password all work), a safe place to store backup codes — a password manager is ideal — and a few minutes of uninterrupted time.
Lock it down step by step
Open security settings
Go to Settings → Security and choose Enable 2FA. This is the single most effective thing you can do to protect the account.
Scan the QR code
Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code WizJob displays. The app will start generating a fresh six-digit, time-based code every thirty seconds.
Confirm the six-digit code
Enter the current code from your app to verify the pairing. This proves your device and WizJob are in sync before 2FA is switched on.
Save your backup codes
Store the backup codes somewhere safe and separate from your phone — a password manager is perfect. These are how you get back in if you ever lose your authenticator device, so don't skip this.
Understand how sign-in is protected
WizJob uses secure, token-based (JWT) sessions, and you can sign in with Google or LinkedIn OAuth without WizJob ever handling your password for those providers. With 2FA now on top, even a leaked password isn't enough to get in.
Review your connected accounts
Open Settings → Integrations and check which boards are connected. Each connection is OAuth-based and can be revoked at any time, so remove anything you no longer use.
Test the new sign-in flow
Sign out and back in to confirm the 2FA prompt appears and your code works. Better to verify it now than to discover a problem when you're in a hurry.
Don't skip the backup codes
If you lose your 2FA device without your backup codes, recovering access is much harder. Save them the moment you enable 2FA, in a place you'll still be able to reach if your phone is gone.
Pro tip: revoke what you don't use
Every connected account is a door into your data. Periodically review Settings → Integrations and revoke any board you're no longer searching — fewer active connections means a smaller surface to protect.
Troubleshooting
- Your 2FA code is rejected — your phone's clock may be out of sync. Enable automatic time on your device, since TOTP codes depend on accurate time.
- You lost your authenticator device — sign in with one of your saved backup codes, then re-enroll a new device in Settings → Security.
- You signed up with Google or LinkedIn but see a password prompt — choose the same provider you originally used; accounts are tied to the first method you signed up with.
- You want to remove a connected board — revoke it from Settings → Integrations; access ends immediately.
Next steps
- Security & two-factor authentication — the full security reference.
- Create your account — revisit sign-in options and verification.
- Connect LinkedIn, Greenhouse & Lever and verify your auto-apply coverage — manage the connections you just reviewed.
- Delete your data — understand your options if you ever decide to leave.
